I have been sampling quite a bit of coffee lately and thought I would share the results. In general, my descriptions aren’t going to be all that sophisticated. – sorry I am just not that kind of a guy – if you are looking for notes of blackberry, shoe leather, straw, or damp earth, you have come to the wrong place. For the most part I have an moderately experienced coffee palate, but more importantly (at least to me) I just happen to know what I like and don’t like. So for the inaugural kickoff (I do see this as a regularly scheduled post), this week’s coffees were:
- Panama Eleta Capitan
- Panama Finca Carmen
- Ethiopia Worka
- El Salvador Altamira
This week’s batch were all full rich coffees with lots complexity and long finishes, with the exception being the El Salvador which was a little less full bodied. First off, all of these coffees were great, and I would buy each one of them again. The Panamas and Ethiopian were fruity each in their own respective ways, but were very rich cups – I couldn’t contemplate having two cups of any one of them – far too hard on the stomach. On the other hand, the El Salvador Altamira was the smoothest cup of coffee I have had in a long time. Not as big or as complex as the other ones, but just downright tasty. It gets the nod. As soon as I clear out my current stock, I will be placing another order from Doma.

I grew up on instant. I hope the creamers are at least flavored.
